CSIRO Micronekton Database: 1992 to 2018

Micronekton are small (~2-20 cm) free-swimming pelagic organisms. Ecologically, they are the mediators between primary production to higher trophic orders, by providing the trophic link between the mesozooplankton and apex predators. Here we describe CSIRO’s micronekton data holdings collected from 1992 to 2018 from 13 surveys within six areas around southeastern Australia and the Southern and Indian Oceans. Surveys include depth stratified sampling, integrated sampling and some diurnal and seasonal replication. Comparisons between surveys were made by standardising data using a consistent method for volume filtered estimates.

微型游泳生物（Micronekton）是体长约2至20厘米的自由游动远洋生物。从生态学角度而言，它们是初级生产与更高营养级之间的介导者，充当了中型浮游动物与顶级捕食者之间的营养纽带。本数据集介绍了澳大利亚联邦科学与工业研究组织（CSIRO）的微型游泳生物数据馆藏，这些数据采集于1992年至2018年间，涵盖澳大利亚东南部、南大洋以及印度洋周边6个区域内的13次科考调查。本次科考调查采用了分层深度采样、综合采样方式，并开展了部分昼夜与季节重复采样。研究通过采用统一的体积过滤量估算标准化方法，实现了不同科考调查数据间的横向对比。
