Rock glaciers, Upper Engadin, Switzerland, Version 1

The investigated region is called Upper Engadin and is situated in the Eastern part of the Swiss Alps. The area is characterized by a high situated valley floor with an average altitude of 1700 m asl. This valley has a very smooth slope in the direction from SW to NE and is characterized by the river Inn and some larger lakes (Lake Sils, Lake Silvaplana, Lake Champfer and Lake St. Moritz). At upper most part the valley breaks sharply down to the valley of the Maira river in the Bergell mountains. There were mapped three categories of rock glaciers. 1) 97 active rock glaciers, 2) 47 inactive rock glaciers and 3) 26 fossil or relict rock glaciers. The mapping was performed with infrared aerial photographs taken by the Swiss Federal Office of Cadastral Surveys (Vermessungsdirektion). The scale of the photographs is around 1 to 52000. The data are described in Hoelzle (1989, unpublished). The following parameters of each rockglacier were measured. Front elevation [m asl], source elevation [m asl], length [m], width [m], front exposition, source exposition, and coordinates [Swiss national system]. These data are presented on the CAPS Version 1.0 CD-ROM, June 1998.

本研究的调查区域为上恩加丁（Upper Engadin），地处瑞士阿尔卑斯山脉东部。该区域以平均海拔1700米的高位河谷谷底为典型特征，河谷自西南向东北方向坡度极为平缓，区域内分布有爱因河（Inn River）与锡尔斯湖（Lake Sils）、席尔瓦普拉纳湖（Lake Silvaplana）、尚费尔湖（Lake Champfer）、圣莫里茨湖（Lake St. Moritz）等大型湖泊。河谷最上游段在贝尔格莱山（Bergell mountains）区域陡然下切，汇入迈拉河（Maira River）河谷。
本次共解译测绘出三类岩屑冰川（rock glaciers）：1）97处活动型岩屑冰川；2）47处非活动型岩屑冰川；3）26处化石/残留型岩屑冰川。本次解译测绘工作采用瑞士联邦地籍测量局（Vermessungsdirektion）拍摄的红外航空影像完成，影像比例尺约为1:52000。相关数据的详细说明见于Hoelzle（1989，未刊稿）。
本次实测了每处岩屑冰川的以下参数：前缘海拔[米（asl）]、源区海拔[米（asl）]、长度[米]、宽度[米]、前缘朝向、源区朝向及坐标[采用瑞士国家坐标系]。上述数据已于1998年6月以CAPS 1.0版光盘（CAPS Version 1.0 CD-ROM）形式发布。
