FishBase

FishBase is a Biodiversity Information System with all you ever wanted to know about finfishes. FishBase caters information to different professionals such as research scientists, fisheries managers, biodiversity managers, etc., and also to students and the general public. The FishBase website displays data on practically every fish species known to science. The project started in 1990 in ICLARM (International Center for Living Aquatic Resource Management, now called the WorldFish Center) in collaboration with FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) and was further developed with many other partners, in particular with the help of the independent Catalog of Fishes (California Academy of Science, W.N. Eschmeyer), and with the main support from the European Commission. Today, FishBase is maintained and developed in FIN (FishBase Information and Research Group, a Philippine NGO) under the scientific steering of the FishBase Consortium that gathers 9 institutions around the world. http://www.fishbase.org/鱼类数据库（FishBase）是一套生物多样性信息系统（Biodiversity Information System），涵盖了所有你想了解的鳍鱼类（finfishes）相关知识。该数据库可为科研人员、渔业管理者、生物多样性管理者等各类专业人士，以及学生和普通公众提供信息服务。 FishBase官网几乎收录了科学界已知的所有鱼类物种的数据。该项目于1990年在国际水生生物资源管理中心（ICLARM，现更名为世界渔业中心（WorldFish Center））启动，初始合作方为联合国粮食及农业组织（FAO），后续联合众多合作伙伴进一步开发完善，其中尤其得益于独立编纂的《鱼类目录》（Catalog of Fishes，美国加州科学院W.N.埃施迈耶团队）的支持，并获得了欧洲委员会（European Commission）的主要资助。 如今，鱼类数据库由菲律宾非政府组织鱼类数据库信息与研究组（FIN，全称FishBase Information and Research Group）负责维护与开发，由汇聚全球9家机构的鱼类数据库联盟（FishBase Consortium）提供科学指导。 http://www.fishbase.org/
