Salivary Microbiome in Patients with Schizophrenia

We used 16S rRNA gene sequencing to investigate the salivary microbiome in patients with first-episode schizophrenia, individuals at clinical high risk for psychosis and healthy controls. This study provides the first evidence of the identity, quantity and functions of microbes in the saliva of patients with schizophrenia and provides a unique framework for understanding oral microbial dysbiosis in this disease.

本研究采用16S rRNA基因测序（16S rRNA gene sequencing）技术，对首发精神分裂症患者、临床高危精神病个体与健康对照的唾液微生物组进行了系统性探究。本研究首次提供了精神分裂症患者唾液中微生物的种类、数量及功能的相关证据，并为理解该疾病中的口腔微生物群失调提供了独具特色的研究框架。
