Chloroplast genome of S. officinarum has been sequenced at the National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences, Japan. It is 141,182 bp in size. Genome analysis indicate that the S. officinarum chloroplast genome when compared to the chloroplast genomes of other grasses showed similarity to maize but not to rice or wheat genome.

日本国家农业生物科学研究所(National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences)已完成对Saccharum officinarum(简称S. officinarum)叶绿体基因组的测序。该叶绿体基因组长度为141182个碱基对(base pair,简称bp)。基因组分析结果表明,相较于其他禾本科植物的叶绿体基因组,S. officinarum的叶绿体基因组与玉米的叶绿体基因组具有较高同源性,而与水稻、小麦的叶绿体基因组则无明显同源性。
