The preoptic area of hypothalamus plays an important role in sleep homeostasis. We used snRNA-seq to identify neurons involved in homeostatic sleep response. Overall design: We compared mice under high sleep pressure (recovery sleep following sleep deprivation) to mice under low sleep drive (undisturbed sleep toward the end of lights-on).
