Supporting data for Burmese Nationalism under the Military Junta: Elite Manipulation and Grassroots Contention

This is a dataset collected for the MPhil thesis titled, "Burmese Nationalism under the Military Junta: Elite Manipulation and Grassroots Contention". The dataset contains transcripts of 105 personal interviews conducted between May and October 2021 with grassroots actors in Burma, and public addresses taken from Burmese state-owned newspapers from 2004 to 2022. <br> Elites are important actors in formation and mobilisation of popular nationalism due to their control over society according to literature on nationalism. The dataset, through the case study of Burma, provides important insights into impact and success of elite-led nationalism.

本数据集系为一篇题为"军政府治下的缅甸民族主义：精英操纵与草根抗争"的哲学硕士（MPhil）学位论文采集构建而成，内容涵盖2021年5月至10月间对缅甸草根行动者开展的105场个人访谈的誊录文本，以及2004年至2022年间摘录自缅甸国营报纸的各类公开演说文本。<br>根据民族主义研究领域的现有学术文献，精英群体因掌控社会资源，在大众民族主义的塑造与动员进程中扮演着核心角色。本数据集以缅甸为案例研究对象，可为探讨精英主导型民族主义的影响与成效提供重要的实证视角与研究参考。
