ODP 1027C Wavelength Shifting Optical Module Deployed 2020-09-28

The University of Mainz Wavelength Shifting Optical Module SN001 was deployed on 2020-09-28 at ODP 1027C. ODP 1027C is a borehole site used to pinpoint an area within Cascadia Basin. This device is a Wavelength Shifting Optical Module. The Wavelength Shifting Optical Module (WOM) measures ultraviolet photons within its instrumented volume. It is constructed as a cylindrical tube painted with a wavelength shifting optical color. Inside the tube, the photons get absorbed and re-emitted in an optical regime where they are readout via two photomultiplier tubes. It was deployed on a fixed platform. Data from this deployment were archived and made available through Ocean Networks Canada's Oceans 3.0 digital infrastructure, with quality assurance and derived data products following established practices.
