DATASET FOR INCOME INEQUALITY AND HEALTH IN SSA

Dataset for the analysis of impact of income inequality on health in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is made up of ten variables which comprises of two alternate dependent variables, six explanatory variables, and two sets of dummy variables. The study examined the impact of income inequality in 29 SSA countries over the period 1996 to 2015, and also examined possible differences in impact of income inequality between countries richly endowed with natural resources and those that are not. Findings from the study show that income inequality does not have significant impact on health therefore does not significantly explain changes in health in SSA. Instead, quality of the environment, education, health expenditure as well as global factors are variables that significantly explain changes in health in SSA.

本数据集用于分析撒哈拉以南非洲（Sub-Saharan Africa，SSA）收入不平等对居民健康的影响。数据集共包含10个变量，涵盖2个替代因变量、6个解释变量与两组虚拟变量。本研究以1996至2015年间的29个SSA国家为研究样本，考察了收入不平等对健康的影响，并探讨了自然资源丰裕国家与非丰裕国家之间收入不平等影响效应的潜在差异。研究结果表明，收入不平等对居民健康并无显著影响，无法有效解释SSA地区健康状况的变化；相反，环境质量、教育水平、卫生支出以及全球层面因素，是能够显著解释该地区健康状况变化的核心变量。
