Soil moisture is crucial for weather forecasting and agriculture, but current satellites using L-band (1.4 GHz) can only measure moisture in the top 5 cm of soil, struggling with rough surfaces and vegetation. P-band (742 MHz) offers a solution, capable of detecting deeper moisture and minimizing interference from surface features. This study demonstrates that P-band outperforms L-band, particularly in challenging environments with dense vegetation. Its ability to provide reliable, accurate data makes P-band a promising tool for future satellite missions, enhancing drought monitoring and improving agricultural practices.
