In this study, we tested the ability of the common dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) to recruit a core rhizosphere bacterial community out of a diverse array of soil types. 30 soils from the Piedmont and Coastal regions of North Carolina were used to grow sterilized plants and diversity of bacteria compared between bulk soil, control plants, one-week transplants, and four-week transplants.
