Children of the 2020s: Wave 1, 2021-2022: Secure Access

<p><span style="font-style: italic;">Children of the 2020s</span> (COT20s), also known as Education and Outcomes Panel Studies (EOPS) Early Years, is a Department for Education (DfE)-funded study focusing on early childhood. It follows a random probability sample of 8,500 children, starting from the age of 9 months in 2022, with plans to conduct annual data collection until the age of 5 years. Data are currently only available for Wave 1.<br><br>The study gathers evidence via questionnaires about parents/carers and their children's background, behaviours and experiences. The study will build up rich statistical evidence of the highest standard to enable varied analyses and intends to improve our understanding of factors associated with variations in intermediate and longer-term learning and wellbeing outcomes for different groups of children.<br><br>The sample for the COT20s study was selected from HMRC Child Benefit records for all registered births between September and November 2021. The sample was designed to boost the sample in the most deprived quintile of areas, in order to ensure a large enough sub-sample for analysis of families experiencing economic deprivation. The over-sampling was based on the aggregated Income Deprivation Affecting Children Index scores for lower super output areas.<br></p>

本研究通过问卷收集父母或照料者及其子女的背景信息、行为表现与成长经历相关数据。该研究将构建最高标准的高质量统计证据体系，支持多维度分析，并旨在加深我们对不同儿童群体的中期与长期学习表现及福祉水平差异相关影响因素的理解。

COT20s研究的抽样样本取自2021年9月至11月间所有登记出生婴儿的英国皇家税务与海关总署（Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs，简称HMRC）儿童福利金记录。本次抽样设计特意超额抽样最贫困五分位区域的样本，以确保拥有足够规模的子样本用于分析经济贫困家庭的相关情况。本次超额抽样的依据为下级超级输出区（lower super output areas）的聚合式儿童影响收入贫困指数（Income Deprivation Affecting Children Index，简称IDACI）得分。
