Dataset: Bivalvia species checklist from the Gulf of Mexico

Here we update the bivalve based on Turgeon et al. (2009) checklist, and using the same definition of GoM, we created a species list containing records from three main sources: 1) an extensive search of publications (scientific articles, books and government agency reports) from 2006, the most recent year included in the chapter on bivalves in the book of Tunnell et al. (2009), to December 2020 within the area; 2) the online datasets GBIF and Invert-E-base (retrieved on October 2023) and 3) all the bivalve records in the Colección de Moluscos de la Península de Yucatán (CMPY), from Facultad de Ciencias, Sisal UNAM. We list a total of 640 species of Bivalvia.本研究基于Turgeon等人（2009）的双壳类物种名录进行修订，并沿用墨西哥湾（Gulf of Mexico，简称GoM）的定义，从三大主要来源构建了物种名录：1）对该研究区域内2006年至2020年12月的各类文献开展全面检索，文献类型涵盖学术期刊论文、专著及政府机构报告，其中2006年为Tunnell等人（2009）所著双壳类专著章节中收录的最新文献年份；2）2023年10月获取的在线数据集GBIF与Invert-E-base；3）墨西哥国立自治大学西斯阿尔校区理学院下属的尤卡坦半岛软体动物馆藏（Colección de Moluscos de la Península de Yucatán，简称CMPY）中的全部双壳类记录。本名录共收录双壳纲（Bivalvia）物种640种。
