资源简介:
The RESPAC package is intended to facilitate access to the digitised
airborne radar sounding data currently held by the British Antarctic
Survey (BAS). It is a database of ice thickness and surface elevation
of the Antarctic ice sheet. The database covers 371,000 line km of
continent.
It holds radio-echo sounding (RES) data from two sources. Firstly,
data collected from approximately 280 BAS flights covering 131,000 km
of airborne survey flown between 1966 and 1987. Secondly, data
collected jointly by the Scott Polar Research Institute/Technical
University of Denmark/US National Science Foundation (SPRI/NUD/NSF)
consortium between 1971 and 1979 and covering 24 000 km.
RESPAC uses 'cartoon' database that enables rapid retrieval, from the
relatively large amount of data present, of sections of flightlines
pertinent to an area selected. It comprises two main programs - RESMAP
and RESPROF. RESMAP produces maps and overlays of flight tracks in
plan view (i.e. maps at specific scales and projections). Subsidiary
data such as coast lines and trig. points may also be
plotted. RESPROF produces sectional views of flight lines.
