This measurement data is a part of the supporting information for our article entitled “Detailed analysis and comparison of different activity metrics”, which is accessible through the references. Besides further details of the measurements and results of our analysis presented in the paper, our work also serves as a general guide on how to proceed if one wants to determine activity from the raw acceleration data (e.g., from this measurement data). This data package contains 42 raw triaxial acceleration signals of 42 subjects measured during a 10-day observation period, each. The acceleration signals were evenly sampled with 10 Hz in the ±8 g measurement interval and were measured on different healthy and anonymized human subjects’ non-dominant wrists. The participants were instructed to minimize non-wear time, e.g., taking the device off for bathing to avoid water damage. The ethics statement can be found in our referred article. The downloadable zip file consists of 42 binary files. Each binary file holds the data of a triaxial acceleration signal and general information, which is summarized in the following list. ● The time difference between two consecutive datapoints. ● The absolute starting time of the measurement in numerical LabVIEW timestamp format (time-zone-independent number of seconds that have elapsed since 12:00 a.m., Friday, January 1, 1904, Universal Time). ● The number of datapoints per axis. ● The x, y (vertical when the hand hung), and z-axis acceleration data. We have attached a MATLAB function to read the binary files with ease, its documentation can be found in the source file.
