The major objective of this study was to identify major microbial taxa associated with living Sphagnum moss, and elucidate microbial groups that are impacted by climate change drivers such as warming and elevated CO2. Microbial taxa were identified by 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing of DNA isolated from Sphagnum moss individuals. Sphagnum was collected from the Spruce and Peatland Responses Under Changing Environments (SPRUCE) experiment in the S1 bog present within the Marcell Experimental Forest in northern Minnesota.
