TheClimateChangeActionPlan2021–2025aimstoadvancetheclimatechangeaspectsoftheWBG’sGreen,Resilient,andInclusiveDevelopment(GRID)approach,whichpursuespovertyeradicationandsharedprosperitywithasustainabilitylens.IntheActionPlan,wewillsupportcountriesandprivatesectorclientstomaximizetheimpactofclimatefinance,aimingformeasurableimprovementsinadaptationandresilienceandmeasurablereductionsinGHGemissions.TheActionPlanalsoconsidersthevitalimportanceofnaturalcapital,biodiversity,andecosystemsservicesandwillincreasesupportfornature-basedsolutions,giventheirimportanceforbothmitigationandadaptation.Aspartofourefforttodriveclimateaction,theWBGhasalong-standingrecordofparticipatinginkeypartnershipsandhigh-levelforumsaimedatenhancingglobaleffortstoaddressclimatechange.ThenewActionPlanrepresentsashiftfromeffortsto“green”projects,togreeningentireeconomies,andfromfocusingoninputs,tofocusingonimpacts.Itfocuseson(i)integratingclimateanddevelopment;(ii)identifyingandprioritizingactiononthelargestmitigationandadaptationopportunities;and(iii)usingthosetodriveourclimatefinanceandleverageprivatecapitalinwaysthatdeliverthemostresults.ThatmeanshelpingthelargestemittersflattentheemissionscurveandacceleratethedownwardtrendandrampingupfinancingonadaptationtohelpcountriesandprivatesectorclientsprepareforandadapttoclimatechangewhilepursuingbroaderdevelopmentobjectivesthroughtheGRIDapproach.
