Whole genome sequencing of 19 Burkholderia mallei strains from Pakistan

For assessing the genotype diversity of the bacterial agent of glanders, Burkholderia mallei, in Pakistan the genome sequences of 19 B. mallei strains that were isolated between 1999 and 2020 in the province Punjab were determined by Illumina sequencing. Further, four strains from a strain collection were sequenced by Illumina and Oxford Nanopore Technologies for gaining less fragmented genomes as basis for genotyping method development.

为评估巴基斯坦鼻疽致病菌鼻疽伯克霍尔德菌（Burkholderia mallei）的基因型多样性，本研究通过Illumina测序技术，解析了19株1999年至2020年间在巴基斯坦旁遮普省分离的鼻疽伯克霍尔德菌的基因组序列。此外，为获得低碎片化基因组以作为基因分型方法开发的基础，研究团队还采用Illumina与牛津纳米孔科技（Oxford Nanopore Technologies）联合测序方案，完成了4株菌株保藏库中菌株的基因组测序。
