Lessons from the Great House: Condition and treatment history as prologue to site conservation and management at Casa Grande Ruins National Monument

This report is a recap by the project manager of the research that the University of Pennsylvania performed in 1998 on the Great House at the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument. The recap explains the objectives and structure of the research involving documentation and assessment of conditions of the Great House. It also recalls the efforts over time of all individuals involved in past restoration and stabilization of the Casa Grande Ruins. The characteristics of the materials used are detailed along with their ability to withstand time.
