Maesa Forssk. is a genus belonging to the family Myrsinaceae with approximately 200 species distributed in the world tropics. Among these, Maesa japonica is distributed in China, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam and Korea. In Korea, this species only distributed in Jeju Island. The complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of Maesa japonica (Myrsinaceae) was determined to be 157,189 bp in length, consisting of large (87,780 bp) and small (18,143 bp) single-copy regions and a pair of identical inverted repeats (25,633 bp). The overall GC content of the chloroplast genome was 38%, and in the LSC, SSC, and each of IRs it was 35.2%, 30.9%, and 43.1%, respectively. The total of 131 gene genome contains 86 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, 8 rRNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis of 11 taxa inferred from the chloroplast genome showed a closely relationship with M. salicifolia and M. japonica. The complete cp genome sequence of M. japonica reported here provides important information for future phylogenetic and evolutionary studies in genus Maesa.

杜茎山属(Maesa Forssk.)隶属于紫金牛科(Myrsinaceae),全属约含200个物种,广泛分布于全球热带区域。其中,杜茎山(Maesa japonica)的分布范围涵盖中国、日本、中国台湾、越南及朝鲜半岛。在朝鲜半岛,该物种仅分布于济州岛。本研究测定的杜茎山(Maesa japonica,紫金牛科)完整叶绿体(chloroplast, cp)基因组序列全长为157189 bp,由大单拷贝区(large single-copy, LSC,87780 bp)、小单拷贝区(small single-copy, SSC,18143 bp)以及一对完全一致的反向重复序列(inverted repeats, IR,25633 bp)组成。该叶绿体基因组的总GC含量为38%,其中大单拷贝区、小单拷贝区及各反向重复序列的GC含量分别为35.2%、30.9%与43.1%。该基因组共包含131个基因,其中包括86个蛋白质编码基因、37个转运RNA(tRNA)基因以及8个核糖体RNA(rRNA)基因。基于11个类群的叶绿体基因组序列开展的系统发育分析结果显示,该物种与柳叶杜茎山(M. salicifolia)及杜茎山(M. japonica)亲缘关系紧密。本研究报道的杜茎山完整cp基因组序列,可为后续杜茎山属的系统发育与进化研究提供关键参考信息。
