Kenya Urban Slum Study

This data contains responses from a cross-sectional survey among a convenience sample of 506 adults residing in Korogocho slum using the WHO validated Alcohol and Substance Involvement Screening Test (ASSIST). We modified the questionnaire based on our findings from the focus group and semi-structured interviews to reflect the community’s social and cultural context. Systematic and random sampling was impossible in this community because of the lack of clearly defined and structured residences and high population density in a very small area. The team of trained interviewers selected eligible informants based on their accessibility and cultural proximity to the interviewer. The interview was conducted face-to-face without the presence of other people either in the participants’ residence or in secluded public places.

本数据集收录了针对科罗戈乔贫民窟（Korogocho slum）506名成年居民开展的横断面调查应答数据，本次调查采用世界卫生组织（World Health Organization, WHO）验证的酒精与药物使用筛查测试（Alcohol and Substance Involvement Screening Test, ASSIST）工具。研究团队基于焦点小组与半结构化访谈的研究结果对问卷进行了修订，以贴合该社区的社会文化背景。由于该区域缺乏明确界定且结构规整的居住单元，且狭小空间内人口密度极高，因此无法在此社区开展系统抽样与随机抽样。经过培训的访员团队依据受访对象的可接触性及与访员的文化契合度遴选合格受访者，访谈采用面对面形式开展，访谈地点设于受访者住所或隐蔽的公共区域，且全程确保无他人在场。
