Regulatory Approaches to AI in Australia: addressing the legal issues

This thesis provides an analysis of the legal and regulatory issues associated with the rapid adoption of generative artificial intelligence in Australia. It recommends that an Australian approach to regulation should draw on existing regulation, adapted where necessary to account for newly-created AI risks. Any new regulation should be informed by the rule of law and adopt a principle of equivalence between human centred regulation and artificial agency.
