Parkes observations for project P885 semester 2020APRS_17

We propose to observe the magnetars 1E 1547.0-5408 and PSR J1622-4950 approximately weekly, to track their rotation, flux density, and polarisation, as we have long been doing through this project. The revolutionary UWL capabilities promise new opportunities to disentangle still mysterious radio emission mechanisms in magnetars. This promise is supported by the recent follow up of XTE J1810-197, again a radio magnetar after 10 years dormant, for which our observations with the UWL receiver are providing unique and tantalizing measurements of its radio spectrum and polarisation.

本研究拟对磁星（magnetar）1E 1547.0-5408与PSR J1622-4950开展约每周一次的观测，以追踪其自转、流量密度与偏振特性，一如本项目长期以来的观测实践。极具创新性的UWL观测能力，为解开磁星迄今仍迷雾重重的射电辐射机制之谜提供了全新机遇。这一潜力已在XTE J1810-197的近期后续观测中得到佐证：该源同样是一颗沉寂十载后重新活跃的射电磁星，我们借助UWL接收机对其开展的观测，正为其射电频谱与偏振特性提供独一无二且极具价值的测量结果。
