The beef cattle vaginal microbiota in relation to breeding and pregnancy

The aim of this study was to characterize the vaginal microbiota of beef cattle in relation to breeding and pregnancy and compare that of cattle who were successfully bred versus those who were not. A total of 35 cattle were used for this study. Vaginal swabs were collected roughly three weeks apart from 10/2021 to 2/2022, resulting in samples collected from seven timepoints. The DNA was extracted from the vaginal swabs and the 16S rRNA gene was amplified and sequenced on an Illumina MiSeq platform.

本研究旨在表征肉牛阴道菌群与配种及妊娠的关联，并对比成功配种与未成功配种肉牛的阴道菌群特征。本研究共纳入35头肉牛。于2021年10月至2022年2月期间，每隔约三周采集一次阴道拭子，最终获得7个时间点的样本。从阴道拭子中提取DNA，扩增16S核糖体RNA（16S rRNA）基因，并在Illumina MiSeq测序平台上完成测序。
