Climate, Crime, and Reddit Sentiment Data for Canadian Prairie Cities: Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, and Winnipeg (2009–2025)

This dataset supports the article "Climate Variability, Urban Crime, and Public Perceptions of Safety: A Social Media Sentiment Analysis of Canadian Prairie Cities" submitted to Computers, Environment and Urban Systems (Special Issue: Open Urban Data Science). The archive contains 17 processed CSV files across three data streams: (1) daily, monthly, and yearly climate observations from Environment and Climate Change Canada for Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, and Winnipeg (2010–2025), including temperature, relative humidity, precipitation, and derived thermal indices; (2) police-reported crime statistics from the Statistics Canada Uniform Crime Reporting Survey for all four cities (2010–2024), covering violent crime, property crime, and total Criminal Code violations; and (3) Reddit sentiment data from city-specific subreddits stratified into five analytically distinct eras (2009–2025), including post-level VADER compound sentiment scores, categorical sentiment labels, crime-relevance classification, and geospatial coordinates for mapping. All data are processed, imputed, and analysis-ready.
