The distribution of bacterial communities in marine sediments

Examining the distribution of microorganisms in submarine canyons presents an opportunity to study the association of microbial dynamics relating to continental-oceanic interactions. Here we investigated bacterial communities along a sediment column over glacial-interglacial cycles in the Pearl River submarine canyon in the northern South China Sea. This study was aimed at determining the vertical distribution of benthic bacteria, evaluating their ecological importance in subseafloor biosphere.

探究海底峡谷内的微生物分布，可为研究与陆-洋相互作用相关的微生物动态关联提供契机。本研究以南海北部珠江口海底峡谷的沉积柱为研究对象，分析了冰期-间冰期旋回尺度下沿沉积柱剖面的细菌群落特征。本研究旨在明确底栖细菌的垂直分布模式，并评估其在海底深部生物圈中的生态重要性。
