Annotated record of the detailed examination of Mn deposits from DSDP Site 161, Leg 16 (Cores 16-161-1 and 16-161A-14)@en

DSDP 161 is located on the lower west flank of the East Pacific Rise about midway between the Clipperton and Clarion fracture zones which define the boundaries of a large structural block in the eastern Pacific. The site is about 4,000 km west of the present crest of the Rise. It is located near the northern edge of a zone of thick Cenozoic sediments which marks the general location of the equatorial zone of high biological productivity.深海钻探计划（Deep Sea Drilling Project, DSDP）161站位位于东太平洋海隆（East Pacific Rise）西侧下部斜坡，地处划定东太平洋大型构造块体边界的克利珀顿断裂带（Clipperton Fracture Zone）与克拉里昂断裂带（Clarion Fracture Zone）之间的大致中点位置。该站位距离当前海隆脊部以西约4000千米，毗邻厚层新生代沉积物（Cenozoic sediments）分布区的北缘，而该沉积物分布区恰好对应高生物生产力赤道带的大致分布范围。
