Experimental studies confirmed n-6 type polyunsaturated fatty acid as pro-carcinogenic factor and n-3 fatty acid as cancer restraining agent; though their mode of action on tumor cells are still unclear. Keywords: Time course To review the contrasting effect of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids over carcinoma by studying genomic alteration in treated cancer cells, two members from each family of PUFAs, namely EPA and DHA from n-3 PUFA family and, AA and LA from n-6 PUFA family was selected to treat four breast cancer cell lines: MDA-MB231, MDA-MB435S, HCC2218 and MCF-7 for two time period- 6hr and 24hr.

实验研究已证实,n-6型多不饱和脂肪酸(n-6 type polyunsaturated fatty acid)属于促癌因子,而n-3型脂肪酸则为抑癌物质;不过二者对肿瘤细胞的作用机制目前尚未明确。 关键词:时程(Time course) 为通过分析经处理癌细胞的基因组变化,探究ω-3与ω-6脂肪酸对癌症的相反作用,本研究从两类多不饱和脂肪酸(polyunsaturated fatty acid,PUFA)家族中各选取两种成员:来自n-3 PUFA家族的二十碳五烯酸(EPA)与二十二碳六烯酸(DHA),以及来自n-6 PUFA家族的花生四烯酸(AA)与亚油酸(LA),以其处理4种乳腺癌细胞系:MDA-MB-231、MDA-MB-435S、HCC2218及MCF-7,处理时长分别为6小时与24小时。
