Analyzing railway sand sources in arid regions with muti-type aeolian landforms using differentiating particle size ranges

This study applies the FingerPro model to elucidate the sand sources impacting the Golmud-Korla Railway (GKR) in northwest China. The findings reveal that fine sediments (< 100 μm) deposited on railway sand fences predominantly originate from LCSS, contributing 83.44% and 76.59% to the < 63 μm and 63-100 μm particle size fractions, respectively. Conversely, Dune was identified as the dominant source of coarser particles (100-500 μm), accounting for an average contribution of 75.40%. The research data includes chemical tracers of Cl, P, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ga, As, Br, Rb, Sr, Y, Zr, Nb, Ba, La, Ce, Nd, Pb, Si, Al, Fe, Mg, Ca, Na, and K in sample with particle size ranges of 0 < 63 μm, 63-100 μm, 100-250 μm, 250-500 μm, and 0-500 μm. Each data set contains three source areas, namely the Gobi, low-lying coarse sand sheet, and Dune, as well as a deposition area with a mixed sample. The above data is in CSV format and can be directly imported into FingerPro, an R package, for operation. The detailed parameter settings and codes can be found in the main text.
