The effects of salinization and straw amendment were studied on the microbial community in a soil from a semiarid scrubland. Soil with or without straw amendment was irrigated with non-saline water or water with low or high salinity in a greenhouse experiment. After this salinization treatment, wheat seedlings were planted into the soil and grown for seven weeks. The microbial communities in the bare soil before planting and in the wheat rhizosphere were studied by Illumina MiSeq sequencing of 16S rRNA gene amplicons.
