B. ambifaria strain T16, an isolate collected from the rhizosphere of barley plants in Argentina, exhibits not only a remarkable antagonism against several phytopathogenic species of Fusarium but also it is able to grow with fusaric acid as sole carbon, nitrogen and energy source. Fusaric acid is produced by some species of Fusarium genera during plant infection, being one of the most main phytotoxic metabolite.

从阿根廷大麦植株根际（rhizosphere）分离得到的B. ambifaria菌株T16，不仅对多种镰孢菌属（Fusarium）植物致病物种展现出显著拮抗活性，还可利用镰孢菌酸（fusaric acid）作为唯一碳源、氮源与能量源进行生长。镰孢菌酸可由部分镰孢菌属物种在植物侵染过程中产生，是最为主要的植物毒性代谢产物之一。
