Complete mitochondrial genome of tarantula spider Brachypelma albiceps

Brachypelma albiceps Pocock, also known as Mexican golden red rump tarantula, is one of the most popular tarantulas in the world. It had been listed in the Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), which protect them in international commercial trade. However, the lack of chloroplast genome information greatly limits its identification and protection. Here, we assembled the mitochondrial genome of Brachypelma albiceps using Illumina high-throughput sequencing technology, which produced 30,487,966 paired-end reads.

墨西哥金背红尾蜘蛛（Brachypelma albiceps Pocock）是全球最受欢迎的捕鸟蛛物种之一。该物种曾被列入《濒危野生动植物种国际贸易公约（Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora，CITES）》附录II，通过国际商业贸易管控为其提供保护。然而，当前该物种的叶绿体基因组信息极度匮乏，极大制约了针对它的物种鉴定与保护工作。本研究采用Illumina高通量测序技术，完成了墨西哥金背红尾蜘蛛的线粒体基因组组装，共获得30,487,966条双端读段（paired-end reads）。
