The competition between sulfate reducers and other microbiome members after sulfate addition was studied in two different sediments: a non-exposed and a highly-exposed to asphalt. Anoxic microcosms were prepared by mixing the sediments with seawater medium with or without sulfate. The impact of sulfate on the potential, activity and structure of total microbial communities, sulfate reducers and methanogens was investigated.
本研究以两种沉积物——未暴露于沥青的沉积物与高暴露于沥青的沉积物——为对象,探究硫酸盐添加后硫酸盐还原菌(sulfate reducers)与其他微生物组(microbiome)成员间的竞争关系。通过将沉积物与添加或不添加硫酸盐的海水培养基混合,制备厌氧微宇宙体系。本研究同时考察了硫酸盐对整体微生物群落、硫酸盐还原菌以及产甲烷古菌(methanogens)的群落潜力、活性与结构的影响。
