Using shotgun metagenomics, we longitudinally characterized the gut microbiome of the Thy1-SYN (line 61) transgenic (TG) mouse model of Parkinson's disease (PD), which over expresses wild-type human alpha-synuclein, to test how the gut microbiome composition responds to PD pathology during aging. Fecal pellets were collected at four time points (1, 3, 6, and 12 months) from 22 TG and 32 non-TG mice across 22 litters (total analytical sample N = 216).

本研究采用鸟枪宏基因组学(shotgun metagenomics),对过表达野生型人α-突触核蛋白的Thy1-SYN(61系)转基因(transgenic, TG)帕金森病(Parkinson's disease, PD)小鼠模型的肠道菌群进行纵向追踪表征,以探究衰老进程中肠道菌群组成如何响应帕金森病病理变化。研究从22个同窝群中选取22只TG小鼠与32只非TG小鼠,于1、3、6、12月龄四个时间点采集粪便颗粒样本,最终分析样本总量N=216。
