NRS-19562 | Admission and discharge registers, weekly movements [Endeavour House, Tamworth]

The series consists of registers recording admission and discharge details of youths sent to Endeavour House at Tamworth. Prior to June 1980 care facilities were required to maintain both admission and discharge registers, and also weekly returns registers. This practice was discontinued in favour of having one combined admission and discharge register per care unit, recording weekly movements.The registers have a double page format arranged by week, with one page recording 'Movements Inward' (admissions) to the facility, and the facing page recording 'Movements Outward' (discharges), in chronological order.Details recorded for inward admissions include date of admission, name, date of birth, religion, new committals (offences), name of court, transfers from other institutions (named), absconders returned, leave returned, shelter returned, hospital returned, and remand cases. The outward discharge details record date of discharge, name, transfers to other institutions (named), to shelter, absconded, on leave, to hospital, to court (remand), to whom discharged, address, from PC (Personal Care), and period of retention.Each double page also includes space to record weekly statistics relating to the number of boys housed at the facility. Details recorded in this section include the number of inmates in residence, further broken down into new committals, transfers from other institutions, discharges, remand cases, plus number of inmates leaving and/or returning as absconders, on leave, going to or from shelter or hospital, and those attending court.
