Streptomyces sp. SS52 produces isoflavones such as daidzein and genistein when cultured on the soybean-containing media. The purpose of the genome sequencing of the strain is to find out genes encoding enzymes for bioconversion of soybean's precursors (daidzin and genistin) to daidzein and genistein.

链霉菌属未定种（Streptomyces sp.）菌株SS52在含大豆培养基中培养时，可产生诸如大豆苷元（daidzein）、染料木素（genistein）在内的异黄酮（isoflavones）。本研究对该菌株实施基因组测序，旨在挖掘能够将大豆前体物质大豆苷（daidzin）与染料木苷（genistin）生物转化为大豆苷元（daidzein）和染料木素（genistein）的酶编码基因。
