PUZZLING BROAD-LINE W1W2-DROPOUT QUASARS

The WISE AllSky Survey unveiled a population of extremely red, dustenshroudedgalaxies, the socalled W1W2dropout galaxies. Growing evidence indicates thatthey represent a very rare population of highz hyperluminous (virgul10^(14) Lsun),heavily obscured QSOs.We propose here to obtain the first Xray observations oftwo exceptional W1W2dropout QSOs at zvirgul3 that, thanks to their opticalbroadline classification, challenges this scenario. The clear view toward thecentral engine indeed offers the unique opportunity to accurately measure theXray luminosity of these extreme objects undergoing the transition from buriedto optically bright QSOs.
