Sandspit Oceanographic Radar System Deployed 2019-04-17

The CODAR SeaSonde 5MHz SAND was deployed on 2019-04-17 at Sandspit. The Sandspit CODAR station contributes to an array of CODARs to monitor surface currents in the Hecate. This device is a Oceanographic Radar System. Oceanographic radars measure the ocean surface currents and waves in near real-time, by timing reflected radio waves, and contribute to an accurate prediction of severe weather conditions. It was deployed on a fixed platform. Data from this deployment were archived and made available through Ocean Networks Canada's Oceans 3.0 digital infrastructure, with quality assurance and derived data products following established practices.

CODAR SeaSonde 5MHz SAND测流雷达于2019年4月17日布放于桑德斯皮特（Sandspit）。桑德斯皮特站点的CODAR雷达隶属于一组CODAR雷达阵列，用于监测赫卡特海峡（Hecate Strait）的表层海流。该设备属于海洋学雷达系统（Oceanographic Radar System）。海洋学雷达通过对反射无线电波的传播时间进行计时，可近实时地获取海洋表层海流与海浪数据，为极端天气的精准预报提供支撑。本次布放的雷达搭载于固定平台之上。本次部署产生的所有数据已完成归档，并通过加拿大海洋网络（Ocean Networks Canada）的Oceans 3.0数字基础设施对外共享；所有数据均遵循既定行业规范完成质量管控，并配套提供衍生数据产品。
