Record Player Orchestra: London Analogue Festival, Oxo Tower Wharf, London, 12th - 14th September 2014.

The Record Player Orchestra is an interactive and performative installation exploring the possibilities of collaborative and symbiotic manipulation of sound through physical engagement with a record player, turntable and a bespoke vinyl record.This item contains 2 photos and 2 videos of the RPO installation, 1 video of 16mm film and soundtrack, a festival poster and 6 audio files of RPO improvisations.This item documents the installation of RPO at the London Analogue Festival in 2014 over a 3 day period. The element of accidental encounter was significant during the festival as the number of participants varied as crowds or individuals came across and interacted with the record players and vinyl by chance. The individual improvisations included a composition, Silent Track Girl, developed using the 2 minutes of silence track on side B of the vinyl. Other individuals interacted wth several different players at once to develop new compositions which were then scored in the form of a diagram or written text to be performed again. The catalyst for group improvisations was in the form of a theme, film, physical device or through listen and response, and the resulting compositions include Disco Biscuit Bellringing and Accidental Disharmonic Circling. Through a further chance encounter Clarke also improvised a live soundtrack solo for an artist's 16mm film, R.O.B.E.S.P.I.E.R.R.E being screened at the festival, remaining out of view to minimise notions of authorship.9 Record Player Orchestra improvisations were created and recorded during the London Analogue Festival.Photography by Roger Clarke.

唱片机管弦乐团（Record Player Orchestra，简称RPO）是一款交互式表演性装置，旨在探索通过与唱片机、唱盘及定制黑胶唱片进行实体互动，实现声音的协同共生操控的多元可能。该藏品包含2张RPO装置的实拍照片、2段相关视频、1段16mm胶片与音轨视频、一张艺术节海报，以及6段RPO即兴创作的音频文件。本藏品记录了2014年伦敦模拟艺术节（London Analogue Festival）上为期3天的RPO装置展陈实况。艺术节期间，偶然邂逅的体验是极具意义的核心要素：随着观众或个体偶然偶遇并与唱片机和黑胶唱片互动，参与人数随现场人流或单人到访的情况产生波动。其中的个体即兴创作包括作品《无声轨女孩（Silent Track Girl）》，其创作依托于该定制黑胶唱片B面的2分钟无声轨。另有创作者同时与多台唱片机互动，以此生成全新创作，并以图表或书面文本的形式完成记谱，供后续复演。群体即兴创作的触发路径包括主题设定、影片展示、实体装置，或是聆听与回应式互动，最终产出的代表性作品包括《迪斯科饼干敲铃（Disco Biscuit Bellringing）》与《意外不和谐循环（Accidental Disharmonic Circling）》。借助一次额外的偶然邂逅，创作者罗杰·克拉克还为参展艺术家的16mm胶片作品《R.O.B.E.S.P.I.E.R.R.E》创作并演奏了现场即兴音轨——该影片在艺术节展映时，演奏者置身场外，以弱化作者身份的概念。本次伦敦模拟艺术节期间，共创作并录制了9段唱片机管弦乐团的即兴作品。摄影由罗杰·克拉克（Roger Clarke）完成。
