The longitudinal study examines the influence of transport policy measures on changes in transport policy attitudes and the choice of means of transport for students in Giessen. The study is based on a panel design in which the same students were interviewed at an annual interval before and after the introduction of the measures. The first survey took place in 1994 and the last survey was conducted in 1997.
Topics: choice of means of transport; possession of a driving licence; driving licence classes, vehicle ownership; car use possible; possession of a train card; semester ticket; setting for semester ticket; use of semester ticket since introduction; frequency of use semester ticket; purpose of ticket use; reasons why semester ticket was not used (use of public transport is too difficult, other means of transport preferred); no way travelled; minutes of the journey (i.a. date of fill in, place of departure apartment or other place of departure, postcode of the other place of departure, time of start, destination or purpose, means of transport used, time of arrival, distance, further route in connection); means of transport for university routes; important characteristics of a means of transport for the university route; assessment of the ring line (i.a. sources of information about the newly established university ring line, use of the ring line, frequency of use, opportunity of use, satisfaction with individual aspects of the ring line); evaluation of traffic concepts; estimated proportion of students in the own faculty who use selected means of transport for the university route; main objectives for the country; attitudes to transport issues; attitudes to various transport policies; expected massive climate change due to transport related pollutant emissions; impact of transport on the global climate higher than other factors; only respondents living outside of Giessen: reasons for living outside of Giessen.
