Deep Water Polymastiidae (Porifera, Polymastiida) from the South West Pacific

This study reports on some deep water sponges in the family Polymastiidae collected during the 2017 Abyss Cruise off the East Coast of Australia and the 2003 NORFANZ Expedition to the Lord Howe and Norfolk Ridges in the Tasman Sea, Southwest Pacific Ocean. Species of Radiella, Spinularia, Ridleia, Tentorium and Polymastia were collected from abyssal and bathyal depths. From these collections seven new species were discovered: Radiella nidula sp. nov., Radiella pumix sp. nov., Radiella sclera sp. nov., Spinularia flagellata sp. nov., Tentorium labium sp. nov., Ridleia echidna sp. nov. and Polymastia norfanzii sp. nov. In addition, two species previously known are redescribed based on the new collections: viz. Polymastia zitteli and Polymastia invaginata.本研究记述了多壶海绵科（Polymastiidae）的深海海绵类群，其标本分别采自2017年澳大利亚东海岸外的“深渊航次（Abyss Cruise）”，以及2003年赴西南太平洋塔斯曼海豪勋爵海岭与诺福克海岭的NORFANZ远征科考活动。研究团队从深渊带及半深海带生境中采集到辐射海绵属（Radiella）、刺轴海绵属（Spinularia）、里德利海绵属（Ridleia）、触手海绵属（Tentorium）与多壶海绵属（Polymastia）的多个物种。基于上述采集物，共计发现7个新种：皱辐射海绵（Radiella nidula sp. nov.）、粒突辐射海绵（Radiella pumix sp. nov.）、硬壳辐射海绵（Radiella sclera sp. nov.）、鞭毛刺轴海绵（Spinularia flagellata sp. nov.）、唇形触手海绵（Tentorium labium sp. nov.）、针鼹里德利海绵（Ridleia echidna sp. nov.）以及诺福克多壶海绵（Polymastia norfanzii sp. nov.）。此外，另有2个此前已发表的物种基于本次新采集的标本被重新描述，即齐特耳多壶海绵（Polymastia zitteli）与内陷多壶海绵（Polymastia invaginata）。
