Street and alley system elements in the Outer City of Beijing during Ming and Qing Dynasties

The logic behind this dataset organization is as follows: First, through the collection and preliminary review of ancient records, a list of raw sources related to the historical development of Beijing’s Outer City area was compiled chronologically. Second, the collected raw records were categorized into two types: visual records and textual records. By cross referencing these with coordinates from modern city maps, the dataset was digitized to create a spatiotemporal data atlas. Then, the element in the atlas were integrated to alley system and related features by time periods.
