This dataset comprises qualitative data on 629 studies of CH4 ebullition in inland waters spanning 1974 to 2024; 244 individual relationship outcomes between environmental variables and CH4 ebullition extracted from 64 studies, used in the meta-analysis of the regulation of CH4 ebullition in inland waters; and 814 data entries of CH4 ebullition fluxes from 228 studies collected through a systematic literature search following PRISMA guidelines, used in a quantitative analysis of global trends in ebullition fluxes in inland waters.
