Recovery of the forest's protective effect in Vivian windthrow areas in Switzerland

This is a dataset of the recovery of different forest structural variables in windthrow areas in Swiss protective forests that were severely damaged by the storm Vivian in 1990. The forest structural variables were extracted from vegetation height models derived from ALS 13 and 31 years after the storm. Recovery was determined based on the ratio of the forest structural variables in the windthrow areas compared to undamaged reference areas.
