The dataset contains hyphal length densities (HLDs) of field-grown litter of extraradical hyphae of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi remaining after in-growth bag incubation periods of 0.5–8 months in a warm-temperate Chamaecyparis obtusa forest in Central Japan. The dataset is provided with the article “Decomposition rate of extraradical hyphae of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi decreases rapidly over time and varies by hyphal diameter and season” by Holger Schäfer, Masako Dannoura, Mioko Ataka, and Akira Osawa.
