To better understand the market demand for cloud data warehouses across cities in Hunan Province, this dataset collects and calculates demand elasticity data of cloud data warehouses for each city in Hunan Province. If the ratio of the change in demand for cloud data warehouses is greater than the ratio of the change in their price, the demand for cloud data warehouses is deemed elastic, indicating that customers are highly sensitive to price changes of cloud data warehouses. The greater the elasticity, the more sensitive the demand is to price fluctuations. In this scenario, all enterprises in the industry can appropriately lower the price of cloud data warehouses in the corresponding city to gain higher revenue. Conversely, if the demand for cloud data warehouses is inelastic, all enterprises in the industry can appropriately raise the price of cloud data warehouses in the corresponding city to gain higher revenue. This dataset is of great significance for the marketing decision-making of all enterprises in the industry operating in Hunan Province.
1. Data Collection: Collect monthly demand data and price data of relevant cloud data warehouses, organize and summarize them at the municipal level to obtain the change values of demand quantity and price of cloud data warehouses.
2. Algorithm Rules: Calculate the demand elasticity coefficient using the following formula: Ed = -(ΔQ/Q) ÷ (ΔP/P). In the formula: Q represents the demand for the product (unit: unit); P represents the price of the product (unit: yuan); ΔQ represents the year-on-year change in demand (unit: unit); ΔP represents the year-on-year change in price (unit: yuan). Take the absolute value of the demand elasticity coefficient |Ed| as the reference coefficient for data analysis.
3. Data Analysis: Analyze the price elasticity of demand for cloud data warehouses based on the value of |Ed|:
(1) |Ed| = 1 (Unitary Price Elasticity of Demand): indicating that the change magnitude of demand is the same as that of price;
(2) 1 < |Ed| (Elastic Demand): indicating that the change magnitude of demand is greater than that of price;
(3) |Ed| < 1 (Inelastic Demand): indicating that the change magnitude of demand is less than that of price.
