We propose to observe 2 magnetic earlytype stars (56 Tau and nu Sco CD) thatwere previously detected as Xray sources by ROSAT and as nonthermal radiosources by the VLA, so as to obtain wellexposed EPIC spectra and lightcurves.We will analyze their spectra for evidence for or against the hypothesis thatthe Xray emitting plasma is intrinsic to the magnetic star (as opposed to beingcoronal emission from unresolved lowmass stellar companions), e.g., bycomparing the inferred coronal elemental abundances to the peculiar Sirichabundances of the magnetic stars. photospheres.
