Investigation of predictors of the number of sponsors a zoo animal receives, incorporating data from seven diverse zoos in the UK and phylogenetic information. The dataset includes information on the number of sponsors a species has at a given zoo, the position of the common name of the species in alphabetic order for a given zoo's sponsorship list, body mass (kg), conservation status (IUCN Red List category), diet (herbivory, carnivory, or omnivory), activity patterns (diurnal, crepuscular, nocturnal or cathemeral), phylogenetic distance from humans (in millions of years since a given species divergence from humans), and whether the species is typically housed in groups or singly in zoo settings. A phylogenetic tree containing the species from the dataset is also included here, as is an R script for conducted the analyses in the study.
