Drug resistance in Plasmodium falciparum is an important public health burden since it reverses the malaria control achieved so far. Understanding the mechanism of drug resistance will help us to develop novel drug/vaccine targets for malaria treatment. In the present study, we have used the whole transcriptome sequencing to characterize the transcriptional difference between chloroquine sensitive and resistant P. falciparum strains (3D7 and Dd2). The differential gene expression between these strains was analyzed to understand their phenotypic properties like drug sensitivity, immune evasion and pathways involved.

恶性疟原虫(Plasmodium falciparum)的耐药性是一项重大公共卫生负担,因其会抵消迄今已取得的疟疾防控成果。解析该耐药性的作用机制,将有助于开发疟疾治疗的新型药物与疫苗靶点。本研究采用全转录组测序技术,对氯喹敏感与耐药的恶性疟原虫虫株(3D7与Dd2)之间的转录组差异进行表征分析。通过分析两虫株间的差异基因表达情况,解析其药物敏感性、免疫逃逸及相关通路等表型特征。
