The goal of this study was to identify bacterial genes that contribute to the survival and fitness of an opportunistic pathogen, Citrobacter freundii, during bacteremia. Bacterial isolates were obtained from University of Michigan Hospital System patients with Citrobacter bloodstream infections and the genomic sequences of each were determined de novo. From these isolates, a single C. freundii strain was selected for use in INSeq experiments to identify fitness genes in a murine model of bacteremia.

本研究旨在鉴定菌血症(bacteremia)进程中,可提升机会致病菌弗氏柠檬酸杆菌(Citrobacter freundii)存活能力与适应度的细菌基因。 研究菌株分离自密歇根大学医院系统(University of Michigan Hospital System)内罹患柠檬酸杆菌血流感染的患者,且对每一株分离菌的基因组序列完成了从头(de novo)测序。 从上述分离菌株中筛选得到一株弗氏柠檬酸杆菌,用于INSeq实验,以在小鼠菌血症模型中鉴定适应度相关基因。
